Support Young People's Right to Sex Education
For nearly 40 years, Answer’s dedicated staff has been steadfast in its mission of providing and promoting sex education to young people and the adults who serve them. Yet, the crucial work we do is not considered newsworthy by mainstream media until there is a crisis. And there have been plenty this year: record high rates of sexually transmitted diseases, limits on abortion access and the tragic results of homophobic bullying. This sort of news paints a picture of a country that is still uneasy when it comes to talking about sex and sexuality—despite the dire consequences of silence around these topics. Answer refuses to be silent when there is so much at stake for the young people who become the adults of tomorrow.
Why Donate to Answer?
- Young people need high-quality sex education, but they routinely tell us they get too little, too late. Answer’s amaze jr. videos—produced in conjunction with Advocates for Youth and YTH—provide resources for parents of children as young as age three. Our AMAZE videos, for very young adolescents between the ages of 10 and 14, offer over 100 fun and factual sexual health videos.
- Young people need easy access to reliable, medically accurate sex education resources, not the misleading, sexually explicit content that is ubiquitous online. For 25 years, Sex, Etc., Answer’s flagship publication written by teens for teens, has provided information young people can trust in a fun and relatable format.
- Young people have the right to sex education provided by knowledgeable, well-trained educators who have the skills and temperament to provide this life-saving information. For nearly 40 years, Answer has been a recognized leader in the field of professional development for sex education.
Now, more than ever, we must continue to support and advocate for every young person’s right to sex education that is trauma-informed, culturally responsive and inclusive of all identities.
