BOSAA Scholarship Fundraiser

The Black Organization of Students' (BOS) activism and courage in 1969 led directly to greater inclusion of black students, faculty, and staff at Rutgers.  Since then there have been great strides in diversifying the students, faculty, and staff, but much more work remains to be done. The Black Organization of Students Alumni Association (BOSSA) Scholarship, established in the organization’s name, will assist current members of the Black Organization of Students (BOS), while paying homage to the valiant members of 1969, who sacrificed and fought to make Rutgers-Newark a diverse and inclusive place of learning for all people, especially historically underrepresented African American and Latino students. This scholarship is important because it represents the continuity of struggle inspired by a robust 1960s student activism, and that of many other concerned people, culminating with the 1969 Liberation of Conklin Hall on the Rutgers-Newark campus.

As in 1969, BOSAA remains committed to creating an equitable educational experience for RU-N students. In fact, the BOSAA mission has never been more important than it is right now.  We want to help more students achieve their dream of a college education in a timely manner and with minimal debt. Many students work several jobs to make ends meet and pay their tuition. A scholarship can provide critical support allowing students to participate in special opportunities like summer research or internships while still paying tuition. We know you’re as committed today as we were in 1969, won’t you make a contribution?

We water the tree as a symbol of our resilience, the commitment to weather the challenges, to forge ahead, growing, expanding and bearing new fruits for generations to come.

Your support will help us meet a critical need in our communities and can have a life-changing impact on a student here at Rutgers University-Newark. Please join us in continuing to make history at this great institution. No amount is too small when it can help change the educational journey of a promising student by helping with tuition, books, housing, and other costs. Of course, we also welcome larger gifts, should you be so inspired.

Your gift will become part of our collective legacy to Rutgers University-Newark. Be part of that legacy.  Support our students today!
