What is the project?
2018 marks the 10 year anniversary of the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (CUEED) at Rutgers Business School. Rutgers Business School is the hallmark of excellence in business education delivered by a world-class faculty.
The Entrepreneurship Pioneers Initiative (EPI), which is a nationally recognized and award-winning program of CUEED, has distinguished itself because of its unique focus on growth-stage first-generation entrepreneurs. EPI develops new, more inclusive generations of entrepreneurs who generate revenue and profit, create local jobs, and stimulate local economic development.
CUEED is now raising funds to create more support services that will expand the reach of EPI for the next decade. The revenue that’s raised will strengthen our current programming and expose both Rutgers’ students as well as enterprising individuals in New Jersey locales to the benefits of entrepreneurship. The successful small business owners who have completed the EPI program will continue to have access to Rutgers resources.
We are inviting you to help us create more #RutgersEntrepreneurs and a more vibrant local economy.
Why is the project important?
EPI has supported over 220 entrepreneurs who have created 200+ local jobs and generated $63M in annual revenue. EPI is part of a larger mission to bring renewed economic growth and vitality to local communities through entrepreneurship. EPI graduates are creating wealth in the City of Newark and other areas throughout New Jersey. CUEED is working to sustain, expand, and build new EPI success stories.
Your financial support of EPI can help us build a strong and recognized community of #RutgersEntrepreneurs. We’re aiming to have the program to be a model for other urban communities and universities around the country/world to aspire to and emulate. Your donation will allow us to provide the following to #RutgersEntrepreneurs who participate in the EPI capacity building programs:
- Networking events and programs hosted by CUEED at the Rutgers Business School
- Enhanced educational programs that are driven by the needs of, and identified by, the EPI Alumni network and CUEED leadership
- Access to members of the EPI Alumni Network and New Jersey business leaders, including the newly established Rutgers Council of Entrepreneurs
- Hands-on services provided by student consultants, coaches, and an active EPI Board of Directors
- Opportunities for youth of all ages to learn more about entrepreneurship and participate in experiential learning projects and consulting assignments
- Use of the EPI model in other communities of entrepreneurs, including creatives, those working in technology, retailers/restauranteurs, and others.
How can you help?
Unlike other crowdfunding campaigns that measure success solely by its fundraising goal, we have simply set a participation goal of 50 people. By raising your hand and demonstrating your commitment to the power of #RutgersEntrepreneurs, you will join a visible, united, and influential group of change-makers and community-builders.
Your investment in EPI will also be an investment in the future of businesses that operate where we live and work. Your contribution will help to firmly establish the connection between #RutgersEntrepreneurs and community revitalization.
Please make your 10th year anniversary gift to CUEED.
All early supporters, regardless of contribution amount, will be invited to attend our 10th anniversary launch event in July 2018. Supporters who contribute above $250 will receive special recognition during the program. At the event, we will announce the first round of the CUEED Council of Urban Entrepreneurs, which is an exclusive group of prominent local entrepreneurs who we’re recognizing for their commitment to improving life in urban communities.
