Description
Amazon packages, personal mail, and all your online purchases are usually delivered from a warehouse to your doorstep by a delivery truck, which is time-consuming, costs money, and consumes a lot of fuel. Though many companies have begun developing drones to simplify the delivery process, short battery life prevents drone technology from being used to its full potential.
In partnership with NASA, we are seven seniors from Rutgers’ Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering working to create an airplane-drone hybrid delivery system, where the drone is carried over long distances by airplane and undocks temporarily to deliver packages to doorsteps. The success of this project would improve access to rural addresses, ease road traffic in urban areas, and even transform the sharing of basic necessities, particularly for hospitals and emergency aid groups after natural disasters.

Donations will go towards purchasing materials and equipment that make our project possible! This includes flight controllers, a mini-computer, different sensors (gyrometers, accelerometers, GPS), batteries, and cameras. We will also use funds to cover in-direct expenses, such as travel to academic conferences.

Why are donations necessary?
This project is the winner of a NASA University Student Research Challenge (USRC) Grant. In order to complete grant requirements, our team must meet a crowdfunding goal of $2000. Once achieved, our team will receive the full grant amount from NASA.
